hi everyone! i'm Isa, dwelling in the far north of europe, finland! AuDHD, queer, sex worker, activist, and a law student, and an owner of two dogs.
my trads are strictly indoors and under grow lights since it's way too cold to leave them outside. i've had an excessive plant hobby for almost a decade now. there's always been some tradescantias amongst them, collected as random gifted cuttings and abandoned pieces off nursery floors, until about two years ago i got a tiny cutting of c. kewensis and it sparked my interest.
fast forward to now, the notorious c. kewensis cutting is now about 150cm tall, and i have 65 species in my bedroom, which is solely a commelinaceae sanctuary. (there's a really bad joke here: in finnish the commelinaceae are called "rumour", so my bedroom is filled with rumours).
right now i'm mostly interested in adding more gibasis and geogenanthus to my collection, finishing my collection of cont. group, finding cuttings of the two newest additions to the zebrina family, and finding more tradescantias that aren't part of the usual suspects (andersoniana, pallida, zebrina, cont., fluminensis or mundula etc). maybe a terrarium for the more humid preferring ones, too.
i also tried to cross my first zebrinas maybe two days ago when my purpusii and burgundy flowered at the same time! we'll see if i manage to get any seeds from it.
